Big Egg, Stinky Pickles, and Gimpy Ears

All week long T3 (aka The Fish Whisperer) has been talking about “fishies”. “Mama, I wanna go see the fishies… I wanna talk to the fishies.” So, after speaking with DH, we decided today would be an outing to the pet store so that we could see some fishies. T3 was bursting with excitement when we told him we were finally going to see the fishies in the store.

When we arrived, the first animals he noticed were the guinea pigs, and he say to us with that wide eyed look, “Look mama and dada! It’s Linny!!!” (Anyone who has seen The Wonder Pets, gets the reference right now) Sure enough Linny was staring right back at us from the cage.

Next stop was the ever popular fishies!  He didn’t know what to do with himself, he was so excited!

And it seems GG couldn’t get enough of the fishies either!

So, $130 later we are looking at an aquarium in our dining room, with three fishies hand-picked by T3 himself.

And on that note, never let your toddler name your pets, or else you end up with Big Egg (the yellow fishie), Stinky Pickles (the black fishie), and Ears (the red fishie).  Ears has since been renamed Gimpy by me since I noticed a chunk of his tail is missing – T3 didn’t seem to mind and now calls him by his proper name, Gimpy.  The favorite right now is Big Egg, since when he eats his food he spits it back out and makes T3 burst into laughter “Mama, Big Egg puking!!!” (hence the last picture above).

Anything to make my kids happy.  So, a big welcome to Big Egg, Stinky Pickles, and Gimpy to the family… I hope they live longer than the plants do in my house.

Yes, we’ve had strangely named pets in our house, too.

Oh that picture is precious! One of our favorite outings is to the pet store, the girls are so entertained while we are there. They still haven’t talked me into the fish tank, though. No, I’m still trying to come to terms with the hamster!
