Today’s conversation while I was cleaning the downstairs living room:
T3:”Mama, why are you cleaning up the room?”
Mama: “Because there is a big mess in here?”
T3: “Why is there a big mess in here?”
Mama: ” Because mama hasn’t had time to clean down here in a while.”
T3: “Why didn’t you clean down here?”
Mama: “Because mama has been too busy taking care of you an your brother.”
T3: “Why is mama too busy taking care of us?”
Mama: “Because you monkeys take up a lot of time.”
T3: “Why do we take up a lot of time?”
Mama: “Because you both are little.”
T3: “Mama, why are we little?”
Mama: “Because you were born not that long ago.”
T3: (thinking really hard) “Mama, why are you cleaning?”
Mama: “Didn’t we just have this conversation?”
T3: ” Why did we con-ber-sation?”
Mama: “Ok, that’s it – let’s watch Dora the Explorer.”
T3: “Why do we watch Dora?”
Mama: (thinking out loud) “So that mama can keep her sanity sometimes.”
Oh boy, this is going to be interesting from now on… So, how many more years of this “why” do I have to look forward to?

ha ha ha! Oh gosh I love it! Maybe I can wait for my girl to learn to speak. I have seen every single one of my neices and nephews go throught the “why” phase. Always entertaining

Hugs. It’s all part of the growing up process. You’d be more worried if he wasn’t speaking so well. You wouldn’t want to have to put him through speech lessons, so be grateful.

I am totally dreading the WHY PHASE!!!
It’s like my biggest fear in parenting. Seriously.
I once heard that the best way to get a kid to stop asking why is to answer them with a question.
Like this:
Kid: Mommy, why is the sky blue?
Mommy: Well, why do you think it’s blue?
Try it and then tell me if it works so I’m prepared when my kids reach this phase

It is a phase in which they constantly ask and then it tapers off….the questions tend to get harder though, trust me!

Oh I know!
My 2 y o is always asking “Why?”. Of course, she really care what the answer is, so I answer whatever I feel like at the time. Sometimes sensibly, sometimes not. And yeah, bad mom, I eventually just turn on some princess movie to finally keep her occupied.
Now my 6 yo is driving my nuts with the “Mom? Did you know that …….”. We were in the car for a hour Sunday and she asked and told me about 1, 345 different things during that trip.
“Mom, how many jobs are there in the world?”
“Mom, did you know Christopher in my class moved?”
Every single question or statement started with “Mom”. Now mind you, DAD was sitting right next to me. But somehow, he got to spend that hour just reflecting in his own thoughts. Not fair.
