Yoga = Pain
My poor derriere is feeling pain like it has never felt before.
I secretly signed up last week for a membership at my local rec center and have started working out. By secretly, I mean that basically my husband and my mother know about it. Guess it’s not so secret anymore. I signed up for several classes, one of which was a Fusion class (Pilates + Yoga) because I am one of those “class taking” people. I loathe being on a treadmill or elliptical machine with 500 other people on the machines next to me, and feel their eyes upon me. I’d rather be in a class, sweaty on my yoga mat on the floor, with mirrors all around, and 30 people able to see 5 different angles of my downward dog – makes perfect sense to me, right?
So, this Fusion class is supposed to be a blend of Pilates and Yoga. I love Pilates, but Yoga was never my cup of tea. Usually, a Fusion class is mostly Pilates with a few Yoga elements thrown in. Well, not so for this class. I think I did one Pilates move and for the rest of the hour I was holding Yoga poses. Now, you’d think this was serene and I was meditating imagining a babbling brook or birds chirping, etc. but in all honesty I was trying not to die! The pain was unreal. I can’t remember a time when every muscle in my body screamed out for mercy.
So, today, a day later, everything from the waist down is toast. I am currently sitting on a pillow, because it hurts to sit on my cushy couch. I am avoiding any and all activities which require me to go up and down stairs (Sorry about your luck GG, looks like you’ll be sleeping in the living room today) and if I sneeze my abdominals hurt so badly that I see stars.
I am so going back to this class – when I recover of course! Because if it can kick my ass this badly then maybe I’ll finally have that bikini body this summer. Hmmm… that gives me an idea….

They offer a class like that at my gym and I used to do it twice a week before I got hooked on the dance. I should go back, because it is amazing for the core.
Your abs and butt should be RAWK hard by the summer!
